PURPOSE OF JOB
- Responsible for the overall direction, management and administration of the Parks and Recreation Department, facilities and cultural services.
- Assesses the Town’s needs for parks and recreation services to ensure that existing and future needs are maintained, as approved by Council.
- Direct and oversee the activities and operations of the Parks and Recreation Department employees, ensuring the delivery of high-quality maintenance and service standards for all parks and facilities managed by the department.
- Establish work schedules, allocate resources, and provide technical guidance to maintain optimal functionality and safety of facilities.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS REQUIRED
- University Degree or College Diploma in Recreation Management, Marketing, Communications, Business Administration, or related field, or acceptable equivalent.
- High level of competence in professional development of staff.
- Leadership skills and solid understanding of departmental operations.
- Ability to establish, maintain, and evaluate departmental effectiveness.
- Strong coordination and review skills for departmental reports.
- Technical guidance and resource allocation in maintaining facilities.
- Effective communication skills in both official languages (French/English) preferred.
- Experience in developing, approving, and implementing short-term and long-term departmental plans.
SALARY:
The salary is established according to classification 13 of the Salary Administration Program and the level of qualifications and experience, which is between $93 000 and $116 251 annually. A complete fringe benefits program, including an OMERS pension plan, is offered.
